My Mother is a TOMDEN/MyHusband'sLover Addict

If you are from the Philippines you may know or have heard of a drama teleserye or tv series titled My Husband's Lover. It was phenomenal for being the very first gay-themed series in Philippine television. It is about homosexual relationships, love, family, friendship, society's discrimination and infidelity. It aired on national television every weekdays 9:30pm at GMA channel 7 from June 10, 2013 to October 18, 2013 with 94 episodes all in all. The main characters are Carla Abellana, Tom Rodriguez and Dennis Trillo. For more information about the series please click here. Well with the filipino's nature of being fond of drama teleseryes and because it is a new flavor for the audience, it was no doubt a hit. Their popularity was also seen over the internet through their social networking sites(facebook, instagram, etc.). They have gathered a lot fans and avid viewers.

And one of them is my mother. :)

She really is passionate about actors/actresses, tv series/movies. She used to tell us about her experiences when she was younger about her being a fan of different artists/singers of her time. Her name is Carmela Pedro, 72 years old.

Being in that age, she's a bit of a weak all-nighter, she easily falls asleep and she's having trouble keeping awake to watch late night tv shows. So when the DVDs of MHL(MyHusband'sLover) came out in the market she was so rushing to buy all of the volumes for her to catch up on the episodes she missed. She bought all 10 volumes of the series, which costs PHP225.00 per volume. We got ours from Odyssey and Astrovision.

Our first volumes. She bought volume 7 and 8 first because she wants to see the final or the ending episode. But its not the last volume because its 10 volumes in all, we had to wait for so long 'coz they only release them one by one.

There were days she asks me if i have been to the mall and seen new available volumes, and 10min. right after, she asks the same question again!*Haha* It was crazy funny! The last volume to complete her collection is volume number 1. Ironic haha. It was mine and my boyfriend's Christmas gift to her, we tricked her that volume 1 was out of stock and its uncertain when it will be available. She was so eager to have it and is in panic! *Hah!*

These are volumes 1 to 10. All 94 episodes, including some special features like unaired scenes, behind the scenes and some bloopers.

My mother watching as usual. She watches her DVDs everyday and every night. And i mean EVERY SINGLE DAY AND NIGHT.

Sometimes she even chooses to watch her MHL DVDs instead of our everyday tv shows!!! She watches it after Eat Bulaga until the evening news. And after dinner until she feels sleepy at midnight. This went on for like weeks or months up to now!

I get to watch it also because we share the same room. Sometimes i can even recite the dialogues of the characters!*Hah!*

And the time came when the love team of the series Tom Rodriguez and Dennis Trillo released an album called TOMDEN, click here for more information about the album. And of course my mother was so cray about it they bought a copy immediately.

Now this is her new thang! She listens to it whenever she has a chance. Atleast 3 times in a day. All of us in the house came to being familiar with the songs and sometimes find ourselves singing to it!*Haha*

After almost a year, now she became a bit techie. With her basic myphone cellphone, she was trying to learn how to operate just the audio player. I was so amazed how can Tomden motivate my mother so much to learn little things like using the dvd player and turning on mp3 player on her cellphone. She's more enthusiastic about these things than learning how to write texts!*Haha* She brings her phone to bed beside her, to the kitchen while cooking and while doing her laundry! And she does not play it continuously, its on REPEAT 1!*Haha*

One day we heard of a album mall show or a meet and greet and told her about it, she was totally excited! She was hoping to get her CD signed and see the stars! Of course we supported her and brought her to the event. It was our very first time to attend a mall show/meet & greet with celebrities. It was held at Robinsons Ermita,Manila Midtown Atrium last January this year at 5 in the afternoon. My mother and i were accompanied by my boyfriend, Jervy, from our house to the mall. I need someone to help me take care of my mother since its kind of far from our home and we only commuted. My Mother was so inspired, imagine she rode four modes of transportation that day just to get to the event. We arrived at about 4:30PM i think.

Only few are already seated inside the event venue.

We actually thought we would just bring the cd album we bought then we would be able to get near to them and have the cd signed. But when we got there we were surprised that we need to buy from their staff to get inside. One cd is equivalent to one person where he/she would enter the venue close to the stage, would be able to get near the stars, have their CDs signed and take a picture with them.

They were selling DVDs of MHL and album CDs, since we already have all of it, we just let my Mother go in so we will just have to buy only one copy. Now she has two CDs. It's sad we or I wasn't able to join.*Hehe* If we did not buy everything too early, we could just buy there and all of us could get in, my brother(actually she's a "sister") also followed us to the venue. But it's okay, but the only things i was worried about was my Mother, she's all alone. :( Sitting there, i know she will be okay, i was just thinking about her moving alone what if she is thirsty or what she's feeling. She's not used to being alone at crowded places like the mall, she was always accompanied by someone. There also was situations where she had to keep reciepts as proof that she bought the CD, it is needed as a pass to get near. And there are things written she's having a hard time to read because of poor eyesight, like her number for when its her turn. Sometimes she also tends to be erratic, i was so worried that she's alone inside. We were just along the barrier to the venue, watching her. I was so uneasy i just stood up to the guards and ask if i could assist my Mother inside for her needs and i will leave afterwards. They were very considerate and i am thankful to them.

 Tom and Dennis arrived the venue by 5:30PM, suddenly there were so many people. They are all trying to get close to the celebrities. Then they went backstage first and came out the stage at almost 6:00PM. Here is the video i filmed during the event:

The crowd went wild when they came out. I tried to keep my shots clear as possible as i can, despite my excitement!*Haha* They greeted everyone, sang a few songs. They were both very handsome and good singers. It was really cute how Tom Rodriguez looked so amazed staring at all the people wanting to see them. I felt his gratefulness, he was happy. Both of them are very thankful for everybody who came and squeezed in just to have a glimpse of them. Dennis' microphone malfunctioned so he wasn't able to finish his song. After their performances was a short break then the meet & greet started.

It's not a clear shot, because i only used my cellphone, i was below the front of the stage. This is the actual photo from my digital camera. My Mother isn't satisfied with this picture and hopes to meet them once again. She says its because she was too distant to them.(demanding)*Haha* She wants a photo beside them!

I was so pissed with the guards and assistants they blocked the damn moment my Mother hugged and kissed Tom and Dennis!!! UGH! However, my Mother was very happy. She hugged Tom and made beso, hugged Dennis as well and beso. She said they were smiling at her and also Dennis said "Godbless" to her. She even joked when she went down the stage, "Hindi na ko maghuhugas ng kamay at maghihilamos." *Hahaha*

They also gave her this proster before she left the stage.

Then we ate dinner and headed home. At home, she always made me play the video i filmed at the event. The following week she was asking me to have the pictures printed so she can always have it without asking me to view it on my computer or cellphone.

She also had their picture framed and hung up the wall.

She also have a small one for her wallet. :) Cute. She also wants to take it to places she goes and shows it to her friends and tells them about how she met them.

 And the TomDen fever really got into my Mother, up to these days, she still watches her My Husband's Lover DVDs. Sometimes when she just finished the whole series, she would watch Tom's or Dennis' movies!

If she finishes watching the movies she will go back to the MHL series.
That's her routine now, and all that matters is she's happy! All she sees are them! She talks about them about 65% of her day.

My Mother, Mrs. Carmela Pedro :) with her collection and happy as she can ever be. It's been almost a year now since MHL came. Up to now its all that makes her relaxed and happy.

Allergy Allert!

Having an allergy is a real bummer! Life is not normal and will never be normal! Specially when you have a sensitive nose! Your allergens or what triggers your allergy could be airborne substances like dust, pollen, etc. You will never be able to breathe or smell just about anything, cause you might sniff something that will make your nose itch and BAM! sneeze! That's the start of it, you will sneeze your nostrils out(being exaggerated) then there's the cold. Runny nose, watery eyes, blocked nose, stuffy nose, post-nasal drip and all. I always used up lots and lots of tissue papers, inhaled lots of cold vaporising ointments and drank lots of water too! The worse part of it is your eye/eyes puffing out or bulging. It means your allergy is more sever than usual.
Here is a picture of my eyes, the one protruding from my eye socket than the other. I am lucky it is only on my one eye this time, both of them bulging sucks!

Having this allergy really affects my life, i cannot clean stuffs anymore, you know like the house in particular, because of the dust i might inhale. I actually don't know the right term for it, or what really allergies me, but I'm sure it is my nose, i will sneeze then that's the start, i think it is allergic rhinitis of some kind or hay fever, but I'm not really sure! I think I might consult my doctor about it, just have no time yet. If i do, i will let you guys know! For the mean time, my treatment for this allergy is just drugstore medicines for colds, like neozep, decolgen, etc. Some of the famous drugstore meds here in the philippines. While for my allergy, are these small tablets, Allerta 10mg(Loratidine) for the price of P21.60. Which i believe is more cheaper than the other anti-histamine tablets.

It is an anti-histamine that gives relief and prevents me from sneezing my brains out!(being exaggerated again!) It works fast, in just minutes. This medicine claims to work in 24 hours in protecting you from allergies, which I'm not sure about because once I'm relieved i no longer notices the time of its effectiveness. There are other anti-histamine medicines you can buy at the drugstore, there is claritin, benadryl, etc. I have tried them also, but i didn't got the chance to observe it for comparisons, maybe I'll try them again next time!

So that's about my freaking allergy!
